Canada Post Announces a Search and Rescue Stamp

A new 50-cent stamp has been unveiled on June 13, 2005 in Victoria to honor search and rescue in Canada. A two-page article in Canadas Stamp Details , April-June 2005 explains the design of the double row of four stamps depicting scenes from air, ground and marine SAR. The panel is surrounded by images of the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system , whose international headquarters will be moving from London, England to Montreal later this year.

Stamps will be available for sale at postal outlets or online at the Canada Post site . The stamp was developed in consultation with the National Search and Rescue Secretariat and the help of SAR organizations across the country.
