Entry into Force of the Canada Shipping Act

On July 1, 2007, the new Canada Shipping Act, 2001 (CSA 2001) entered into force. The CSA 2001 replaces the Canada Shipping Act (CSA) as the enabling legislation governing safety in marine transportation and recreational boating as well as protection of the marine environment.

The CSA 2001 applies to Canadian vessels operating in all waters and to all vessels operating in Canadian waters.
