Message from the Prime Minister of Canada

Prime Minister Jean Chrétien has extended his greetings on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.

It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest greetings to everyone marking the 25th Anniversary of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (CCGA).

This event provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on your long history of commitment to maritime safety. For 25 years, the staff and volunteers of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary have protected the lives of their fellow citizens by providing search and rescue services and promoting safe boating practices; their courage, professionalism and dedication are well known from coast to coast. As you celebrate this important milestone, you may take great pride in knowing that your unstinting efforts are appreciated by countless individuals.

Please accept my best wishes for a most memorable 25th anniversary, as well as every success in the years to come.

Jean Chrétien
